Happy Birthday Eli!

Today I met a little boy that I have been waiting to meet since February! Elijah Scott Ringo was born today at a whopping 9 pounds and 3 ounces (go Blair)!!!!!

Jon and Blair are such sweet friends of ours...the kinds of friends who are really more like family. I have to be honest...I woke up at 5:00 with knots in my stomach, and I wasn't even the one in labor! I wasn't the only one filled with excitement; by the time I arrived at the hospital at 8:30 am, the waiting room was already filled with family and friends anxiously awaiting Eli's arrival.

I have already fallen in love with this little boy, and I can't wait to watch him grow up!

Best Friends {Forever}

I know...it's so juvenile...."She's my BFF!" But, really, she is.

Who is she? She's Jenn. And she's great.

Jenn has two little ones (and one on the way...woohoo!!!!), so she rarely gets to do anything with just the adults. Plus, both her and Ryan's families live in Louisiana, so when she visits our state, she's a busy gal!!!

So, you can bet that this visit was one that we were both looking forward to for a long time!!!! We had such a great time laughing, resting, and sharing about what the Lord is doing in our lives. I love you Jenn, and I promise that I'm coming to B'ham soon!!!!

Happy October!

If you know me at all, you know that I am obsessed with October. This morning, I woke up early and washed my hair with this:
I also ate a pumpkin roll for breakfast (see recipe HERE). Then, after a wonderful day at school, I came home and lit my three favorite fall-scented Yankee Candles: Frosted Pumpkin (all time fave), Pumpkin Spice, and Autumn Leaves.

Ahhh....I love October...

Update on Addison

Addison is currently on his way to St. Jude to find out the treatment plan. Here's the bad news: it's lymphoma. Here's the good news: it's Hodgkin's.

Please pray for wisdom for the doctors, encouragement for Addison and for his parents, Jeff and Jennie, and for Addison's healing.

To keep updated on Addison's treatment, go to www.caringbridge.com. Go to "find website," and enter: addison gabe hilliard (but with no spaces). He goes by Gabe at home, so don't be confused by all of the information about Gabe.

Thanks for praying.

Prayer Request

I know that, as a teacher, I'm not supposed to have favorites. And, honestly, I don't. There have been a precious few, though, who have blessed my life beyond reason.

One of these students is Addison. He is a former student of mine who is now in high school, and he is an absolute joy to everyone in his life. I wish that I could share a story about him that would help you realize how special he is, but my words would fail to describe him. All I can say is that he's just stinkin' great. I've been getting so excited because he and all of the other gifted students who were in my class with him are planning on taking me to lunch tomorrow.

Only, I got an email from him yesterday to tell me that he couldn't make it. Because yesterday he found out that he has cancer.

Cancer.

Addison wrote to me, "I'm scared but holding together well. I know it'll all be ok in the end though, so it'll be fine and I'll probably come out as a better Christian through it."

Please, please pray for sweet Addison.

Sweet Surprise

Today I got a knock on my classroom door. My students were taking a test. I was not happy. Until I opened the door and saw these:

The caption on the card? "Happy one month until your birthday. Love, Kenny."

Now how sweet is that?
